David Koch passed away last night at 79.
He was a top donor to the Republican Party, and was a prominent philanthropist.
He made his fortune with his brother running Koch industries, the top privately held company in America.
He wasn’t a “#yuge” fan of Donald Trump, but was more a libertarian. He and his brother donated a lot of money to Republican PACs over the years, and some say he was the secret mastermind behind the tea party movement of 2009.
Despite his politics, something he did for the people was give back.
According to Wikipedia,
Koch established the David H. Koch Charitable Foundation. Since 2006, the Chronicle of Philanthropy has listed Koch as one of the world’s top 50 philanthropists. He has sat on the Board of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital since 1988.
But in this polarized world, the comments were coming.
But despite this, there were profound eulogies.
